Twisted paper flowers can be used to make cute bouquets or they can be used in other paper crafts such as card making. Paper flowers are attractive and, when finished with florist tape, they have a simple yet professional look. Using pre-cut paper will make this an easy craft for preschoolers as well as older children.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tissue paper, in a variety of colors
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Florist tape
  1. Step 1

Cut 4-inch diameter circles from tissue paper. You will need three circles for each flower. Lay the three circles on top of each other. Choose three complementary colors for each circle.

  2. Step 2

Fold down the top 1/2 inch of a pipe cleaner then repeat. (This is the center of your flower.) Poke the long part of the pipe cleaner through the center of the tissue paper circles and pull it through until the folded part rests on top the center of the tissue paper.

  3. Step 3

Cup the tissue paper with the stem hanging between your fingers. Pull up on the tissue paper so that it gathers around the folded part of the pipe cleaner. Twist the tissue paper around the the pipe cleaner.

  4. Step 4

Begin wrapping the florist tape around the bottom of the flower, securing the pipe cleaner to the tissue paper. Continue wrapping until the entire pipe cleaner is covered. Gently open the flower.

Tips & Warnings
  • Instead of pipe cleaner, attach the flower to a pen. Store in a flower pot for an attractive pen holder for your desk or business. Make party favors by using a lollypop as the stick instead of pipe cleaner.
  • Supervise young children when using scissors.
