Things You'll Need:
- Creative attitude
-
Step 1
Switch to a foaming soap dispenser at your sink. Next time you are at the grocery store looking for some dish soap, find one that has a foaming tip on it and can be refilled. Then when it runs empty, add a couple tablespoons of your liquid dish soap and the rest with water. Mix it up and give it a try. If it oozes out you have too much soap. It might take a couple tries to get the mixture just right but when you do, that regular bottle of dish soap will last you all year.
-
Step 2
penny pincher showerheadTake more showers. Next time you take a shower, close the drain and see how much water is there when you are done. For most people it is about half the amount of water compared to a bath. Over the span of a year you can coserve a lot of water. Go to your local home improvement store and get an efficient showerhead to replace your old one.
-
Step 3
RecycleRecycle and Reuse everything you can. Get three plastic containers to keep in your kitchen and label them PAPER,GLASS,PLASTIC. Before you put anything in your garbage, try to put it in one of the three containers. At the end of the week you should still be using the same garbage bag while the recycle containers are full. Try to purchase items with packaging you can recycle.
Reuse as much as you can. Old plastic butter containers make good tupperware. Reusable grocery bags. Wash those ziploc bags and use them again. Get creative and try to find a way to reuse everything you can. If you can't, recycle it!!
