How to Mix Auto Paint for Spraying

Painting your car yourself can save you hundreds of dollars. Learning the skill of painting vehicles is fairly easy and can turn into a profiting business. The first skill of painting vehicles is learning to mix auto paint for spraying with an air spray gun. With the proper supplies, you can mix auto paint for spraying very easily.

Things You'll Need

• Protective eyewear
• Gloves
• Measuring cup
• 2 1/2-gallon plastic cylinder containers
• Auto paint
• Paint thinner
• Paint filter funnel

Instructions

1. Place the paint filter funnel into the top opening of one of the plastic containers.

2. Pour 2 cups of auto paint through the paint filter funnel into the plastic container.

3. Add 2 cups of paint thinner through the paint filter funnel into the same plastic container.

4. Place the paint filter funnel into the other plastic container. Pour the first containers contents through the filter and into the other empty plastic container. Do this once more back into the original plastic container. The paint should be mixed sufficiently.

5. Pour the paint mix into the paint spray gun you will be painting with.

• The rule for mixing auto paint is a one-to-one ratio for paint to paint thinner when using a paint sprayer.
