How to Make Flax Bowstrings on Runescape

Spinning flax into bowstrings is probably the quickest way to earn XP (experience points) in the Crafting skill. It's also profitable, because other players who use the Fletching skill need bowstrings to ply their trade. You can sell these items to other players, at the Grand Exchange and to general stores throughout the RuneScape world.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your RuneScape paid member account, and go to the nearest bank located close to a spinning wheel. The best choices are Lumbridge, Falador and Tree Gnome Stronghold banks.

    • 2

Empty your backpack into your bank account, and withdraw up to 28 pieces of flax. They are not stackable, so that's the maximum number you can hold at any one time. If you have flax to spin, skip down to Step 5. If you do not have any flax, you'll have to do Steps 3 and 4 first.

    • 3

Get a piece of flax for every bowstring that you want to make. It can be purchased from other players, the Grand Exchange, or occasionally from general stores. Or, pick your own flax for free from a flax field. There are flax plants at the Tree Gnome Stronghold, next to a spinning wheel and a bank, and there is a flax field west of Cathersby. Click on the flax plants to pick them.

    • 4

Store the flax in the bank each time you fill your backpack until you have all the flax that you need for the bowstrings you want to make.

    • 5

Fill your backpack with flax and go to a spinning wheel. Use the flax on the spinning wheel. Click on "Spin" to bring up options for spinning. Click on the bowstring. You'll receive 15 Crafting XP for each bowstring that you spin.
