Beaded Cross

Bead crafting is an inexpensive pastime. You can even make beaded items with children and inexperienced crafters. Your Sunday School or Vacation Bible School class can make crosses using plastic faceted beads in one craft session. Beaded crosses can be hung as ornaments, gift package toppers and room decorations. They can be made in any color and different sizes beads.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a piece of wire 10 inches long. String two red beads on the wire. Wrap the end of the wire up over the first red bead. Wrap around the main wire twice to secure it. String 8 clear beads on the wire.

    • 2

Cut an 8-inch piece of wire. Attach it to the first (main) wire by twisting it tightly around the top of the wire over the vertical line of beads.

    • 3

String 1 red bead on each open piece of wire. Push the 3 beads tightly against the attached wire connection.

    • 4

String 5 clear beads and 1 red bead on one side of the horizontal (main) wire. Wrap excess wire around the main wire between the last 2 beads. Wrap once more around the middle between the next 2 beads. Cut the wire.

    • 5

String 4 clear beads and 1 red bead on the top of the vertical piece of wire. Wrap excess wire around the main wire between the last 2 beads.
Continue wrapping wire around the column of beads for a decorative look. End by wrapping excess wire around the middle of the cross. Cut the wire.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure sharp wire ends are pushed between beads to prevent cuts.
