Find pictures of real Air Max 90s. This will familiarize you with the different styles and colors of the shoes. You can find pictures of Air Max 90s on the Nike website (see Resources).

Look at the "Air Max" logo on the side of the shoes. Make sure the words actually spell out "Air Max." Then examine the lettering. The word "Max" should be slightly bigger than the word "Air." The letters in the word "Air" should all be of the same size, as should the letters in the word "Max."

Check the "swoosh" located above the "Air Max" logo. The swoosh on Fake Air Max 90s may be either wider or longer than normal.

Examine the back of the shoes. The back of real Air Max 90s will curve slightly. Fake Air Max 90s may be flat or too curved, due to the materials that were used to make the shoes.
