    Cleaning a Colt Revolver

  1. Step 1

Purchase a gun cleaning kit that follows the proper caliber and make of your Colt Revolver.

  2. Step 2

Arrange the Revolver on one of the two rags after removing all ammunition. Check carefully to make sure all ammo is removed from the gun and from all chambers before setting it down on the rag.

  3. Step 3

Use the bore brush that comes with the kit to clean out the barrel of the revolver. You will dip the brush into the solvent before each time you place it in the barrel of the gun.

  4. Step 4

For the remainder of the metal portions of the gun, apply the solvent to one of your two remaining rags and wipe over the entire area you wish to clean. Allow it to set for a moment.

  5. Step 5

Before the solvent completely dries, remove it from the gun with the third cotton rag. At this point, your revolver is clean.
