Almost every woman who lives in a hot climate knows what it is like to get a heat rash in intimate places, such as under the breasts. The itchy, red bumps can cause some major discomfort that can persist for days. While there is nothing that can be done about hot and humid weather, there are a number of ways to treat heat rash under breasts. Understand the of causes heat rash under the breasts. Heat rash occurs when sweat gets trapped under tight clothing, such as a tank top or a bra. When the perspiration has no where to escape, the skin reacts by breaking out in itchy red bumps. Avoid heat rash under breasts by choosing loose, comfortable clothing and bras made of breathable material, such as cotton.
Cool down the skin by applying a cold washcloth to the rash. Make sure to wring out excess water before applying it to the skin. Let the washcloth sit on the skin under the breasts for several minutes. Dry thoroughly.
Apply an ice packet to the area under the breasts and hold in place for five to 10 minutes. The cold temperature of the ice will help reduce the swelling of the heat rash.
Clean the infected area with soap and water and dry thoroughly. Apply hydrocortisone cream or Neosporin to the bumps. Reapply every two to three hours.
Dust baby powder under your breasts. The powder will cool the area and absorb any moisture that forms. If moisture isn't allowed to accumulate, the heat rash will eventually go away.
Avoid sleeping with an underwire bra. Instead, wear a loose fitting cotton T-shirt to bed until the heat rash under your breasts goes away.
