How to Do a 360 Backflip on a Trampoline
Backflips are not easy to do on a trampoline. In fact, in gyms, you practice with special equipment to help you flip. Since most people don't have the equipment that professional gyms have, doing a backflip is a lot harder. However, if you have nothing but a backyard trampoline, you can learn how to do a 360-degree backflip. This article describes how to do a 360-degree backflip on a trampoline.

1
Jump high. Before even attempting to do backflips, focus on jumping high. Height is one of the most important factors in backflip completion. Since doing a backflip is impossible without adequate height, don't even worry about the flipping part. Just jump.

Think safety. Make sure the trampoline is fully enclosed. It needs to be able to keep jumpers in the trampoline and off the hard ground a few feet below. To ensure you don't fall through the holes between the springs, make sure there is a padded covering around the trampoline covering the springs. When doing a backflip it is difficult to tell where the edge is, so these two safety features are very important to avoid serious injury. Check all equipment to make sure there are no tears or other malfunctions before jumping.

Get a spotter. Find a buddy to assist you with your backflip. The spotter has to stand really close to you, so bravery is a must. Strength is also important. The spotter stands facing your side and has one hand on your stomach and one hand behind your knees. The hand in front of your stomach stabilizes you during your backflip. The hand behind your knees pushes your legs over your head, essentially forcing the backflip to occur. After successfully helping you backflip while standing still, the spotter can flip you while you're in mid-air.

Start the rotation. A 360-degree rotation is extremely difficult while doing a backflip. A rotation such as this means you end up facing the same way as you started. Turn your body as it leaves the trampoline and use your arms to complete the rotation. This will take plenty of practice.

5
Keep practicing. Practice vertical jumps to gain height, which makes rotating during a flip easier. Do flips--even if they're not perfect--just to get your body accustomed to the motions. Tuck your legs during jumps to simulate the tuck during a flip. Practice makes perfect, so keep going.

Stay positive. It's easy to get discouraged when something doesn't come easily. However, backflips aren't easy for anyone. Remember that everyone starts out the same way, and it just takes time.
