How to Make Doll Crowns
Every doll is a princess who needs her royal crown. Create a pretty one to properly fit a doll's head, starting with a basic crown design and embellishing it to make it special for a little girl's favorite doll. This project creates a crown for an 18-inch-tall doll, but it can be adjusted to fit any doll.
Things You'll Need
- 8 1/2-by-11-inch card stock
- 12-by-12-inch decorative paper
- Measuring tape
- Pencil
- Scissors, paper cutter
- White glue
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Embellishments

Cut a strip of white card stock lengthwise 2 3/4 inches wide and 11 inches long. Fold in half, then fold again in thirds (like folding paper to make paper dolls). With a pencil, draw curving lines on two sides on the fold from the middle up to the top. (See illustration in Step 1). With scissors, cut the crown design out and open along the pencil lines.

3
Lay the crown design on the wrong side (white side) of a decorative sheet of paper, the bottom of the crown aligned with one edge of the decorative paper so that 1/2 inch extends beyond the crown design on both sides. With a pencil trace the top of the crown onto the decorative paper and cut with scissors.
-
4
Apply white glue on the white crown paper along the edges all around. Align the decorative paper crown, right side up, onto the white paper crown and press together. Let dry.
-
5
With a hot glue gun, embellish the front of the crown (decorated paper side) with shiny buttons, metallic ribbons and beads as desired. Bend the crown, overlapping the ends 1/2 inch and secure them together with hot glue. Place on the doll's head.
Tips & Warnings
Two sheets of paper--one plain and one decorative--glued together as described above are required to make a strong crown.
If a child is helping with this project, an adult should handle the hot glue gun.
