1
Take an 8½-by-11-inch sheet of paper and trace a simple doll shape. Create a head that is approximately 3 inches in circumference and two arms that are approximately 2 inches wide and 4 inches long.
-
2
Cut out the pattern.
-
-
3
Fold the cloth in half.
-
4
Place the pattern on top of the folded cloth. Pin the pattern to the material.
-
5
Cut the doll pattern out of the cloth. This makes two doll-shaped pieces.
-
6
Using markers or embroidery floss, draw or embroider a face on the head part of one of the doll-shaped pieces of cloth.
-
7
Turn the cloth with the face over so the face is on the inside, and pin the two pieces of cloth together, leaving a ¼-inch seam allowance.
-
8
Hand sew the arms and body of the doll, but leave the head open to stuff.
-
9
Cut excess material from the seams.
-
10
Turn the doll inside out.
-
11
Stuff the doll.
-
12
Sew the head closed.
