How to Build a Baby Mobile
Building your own baby mobile is a great way to prepare for your new arrival and create something special for the baby to be. You can find creative objects for the mobile around your home or make shapes yourself from felt or another soft fabric. By creating the mobile yourself, you will be able to change the objects as often as you like, and you can create several sets until you discover which your baby enjoys most.

Select the placement for the dowel rod. This will support the mobile. Placement will depend on the size and construction of your crib. You should be able to simply fasten the rod across the top railing of the crib.

Tie four pieces of string to the embroidery hoop at equal intervals. Knot the four strings together at the top and hang the mobile from the dowel just above the knot. The hoop should hang relatively flat.

Tie several brightly colored objects to strings. Make sure that they are very secure and that the objects are soft and large enough not to be choking hazards should your baby get hold of them.

Suspend the objects from the embroidery hoop. Balance them so that the hoop continues to hang even.

Babies enjoy red, black, and white as these colors are very stimulating for them. Experiment with different sets of objects to find which your baby enjoys most. You can change out the objects on your mobile periodically.
Make sure that your mobile is secure and has no sharp edges.
