How to Defog Swim Goggles

Do you get annoyed by how often your swim goggles fog up? Wearing air tight goggles can cause evaporation inside the lenses and prevent you from seeing as well as you could. Follow a few simple and nearly free techniques to keep your swim goggles from fogging over.

Things You'll Need

• Dishwashing soap
• Water
• Saliva

Instructions

First defogging method

1. Wet your swim goggles under a faucet and do not dry them off.

2. Take a bottle of liquid dishwashing soap and place a drop in each goggle.

3. Rinse well and avoid using your fingers to remove the film from the dish soap. The soap creates a film and prevents fogging and spotting.

Second defogging method

1. Spit directly into both sides of your swim goggles.

2. Rub the saliva around the inside of the lenses.

3. Rinse your goggles with tap water.

Tips & Warnings

• Try to purchase fog-free goggles to avoid fogging problems. Most sporting goods store sell defogging spray to use on swim goggles. Baby shampoo can also help defog swim goggles. Use the same technique as the dishwashing soap instructions above.

• Keep a bottle of small dishwashing soap handy at the pool. You may need to repeat this technique every few hours to defog your swim goggles again. Always rinse your goggles well. Leftover dish soap can sting your eyes.
