You love the feel of satin sheets, but you have no clue how to wash them. Washing satin sheets depends on the material they're made of and can be divided into two categories: silk or acetate and nylon or polyester. Check the manufacturer's tag (located on the bottom or side hem of the sheet) to learn what your sheets are made of, then wash them accordingly and they'll last for years.
Dry clean silk and acetate satin sheets or hand wash them, using a laundry product designed for delicate fabrics and cool water.
2
Wring each sheet gently to squeeze out excess water; don't twist them tightly or you'll stretch the delicate weave.
3
Hang your clean sheets to dry. An outdoor clothes line is suitable only if it is in the shade, as direct sun will damage these fragile fabrics. Dry indoors over a shower rod, table or chairs.
Nylon or Polyester
1
Machine wash nylon or polyester satin sheets, using a delicate cycle and cold water and a laundry product designed for delicate fabrics.
2
Set your dryer on the "no heat" or "low heat" setting and tumble dry your sheets, checking them every fifteen minutes to be sure they haven't tangled.
3
Remove from the dryer as soon as they are dry and fold promptly to avoid wrinkles.
