How to Season Pampered Chef Stoneware

Pampered Chef stoneware products are made from natural clay ingredients that are designed to conduct heat more evenly and effectively than other types of bakeware. The product line includes muffin pans, baking stones, casserole dishes and loaf pans. According to the manufacturer, the Pampered Chef stoneware products will naturally season themselves over time with repeated use. However, the manufacturer recommends a few quick steps to ensure that your stoneware develops its nonstick surface. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your stoneware thoroughly with hot water and a scrub brush or sponge. The manufacturer does not recommend using soap--just a good scrub with hot water. Never wash your stoneware in the dishwasher.

    • 2

Dry well with a clean kitchen towel.

    • 3

Spray or brush a light coat of vegetable oil on the interior of the stoneware. Use just enough oil to coat the surface.

    • 4

Place food in the stoneware and cook your recipe as normal. After a few uses, the stoneware will naturally season as the vegetable oil interacts with the surface during cooking.

    • 5

Repeat Step 3 for the first five times that you use your stoneware. After several uses, the stoneware will develop a nonstick surface and you will no longer need to coat the interior with vegetable oil.

    • 6

Repeat the seasoning process if food starts sticking to the surface of your stoneware or if you ever clean it with soap.

Tips & Warnings

  • As an alternative to coating the interior with vegetable oil, Pampered Chef also recommends baking high-fat items in your stoneware for the first five uses. The manufacturer specifically recommends refrigerated crescent rolls or biscuits, which are widely available in the grocery store. Simply place the rolls or biscuits on the stoneware and bake as you normally would. The oil from the rolls will help the stoneware develop its seasoned nonstick surface.

  • Let your stoneware cool completely before you clean it with hot water and a scrub brush.
