Instructions

    • 1

Run the line through the guides on the rod and through the line guide on the front of the reel.

    • 2

Tie a loop of line around the center of the reel spool using a slip knot.

    • 3

Slide the line tight against the reel spool and crank the handle a few times to start winding the line on the spool.

    • 4

Apply light tension on the line as you crank it in to fill the reel. This is easier if you have a helper hold the spool of line on a pencil placed through the center hole of the spool. Have your helper hold the spool vertically so the line comes off the top of the spool as you crank. He can apply slight finger pressure on the sides of the spool, which will place tension on the line.

    • 5

Continue cranking line onto the reel until the line fills the spool. The spool is full when the line is about 1/8-inch from the lip of the spool.
