1
Purchase an inexpensive plastic headband with no embellishments--see Resources for examples. If possible, try it on before buying to make sure it fits you well.
-
2
Cut a piece of ribbon measuring about 8 inches long, which will make a bow measuring about 3.5 inches in width. Use a longer piece of ribbon if you would like a larger bow.
-
-
3
Place two drops of super glue to the center of the piece of ribbon. Press the ribbon onto the position of the head band where the number 1 or 11 would be on an analog clock, depending on whether you want the bow to be on the left or right side. Keep you finger on the ribbon for about 30 seconds to make sure it sticks to the headband.
-
4
Leave to dry for about 10 minutes.
-
5
Tie a knot, followed by a bow, with the two ends of the ribbon that are not glued to the band.
-
6
Apply a drop of super glue to the bottom of the bow and press it on top of the bit of ribbon that it is already glued down.
-
7
Leave the headband to dry for about 20 minutes.
-
8
Smooth out the bow to remove any wrinkles from the ribbon.

Tips & Warnings
Stores such as Claire's and H&M offer a bargain on hair bands, at about $3 a piece.
For a funkier, edgier look, use patterned ribbon and do not match the color of the headband to the color of the ribbon. Use either same or matching colors for the ribbon and band if you wish to create a more sophisticated accessory.
