Things You'll Need:
- Flowerpot, at least 2 gallons
- Pot feet
- Submersible pump
- Bubbling fountain nozzle
- Pea gravel
- Clear silicone sealant
- Waterproof sealer
- Drill
-
Step 1
Seal the interior of the flowerpot by coating with waterproof sealer. Allow to dry before moving to the next step.
-
Step 2
Check to see if the plug of the submersible pump will fit through the flowerpot's drainage hole. If not, use a drill to enlarge the hole.
-
Step 3
Attach the pot feet to the bottom of the pot with the sealant. The cord will need to run out of the drainage hole, and the feet should allow the pot to stand with the cord underneath.
-
Step 4
Place the pump inside the flowerpot and run the cord outside the drainage hole. Leave several inches of extra cord inside the flowerpot.
-
Step 5
Fill the drainage hole with silicone sealant, filling in around the cord. You want the flowerpot to be watertight. If necessary, the cord on the outside of the pot can be taped to the back of the flowerpot, to keep it out of the way. Allow 24 hours for the sealant to dry.
-
Step 6
Add pea gravel to the bottom of the pot, below the submersible pump. The pump will sit on the gravel, in the center. Arrange it accordingly, so that there are several inches of gravel on the bottom of the pot.
-
Step 7
Fasten the fountain nozzle to the pump. The nozzle should be below the lip of the flowerpot.
-
Step 8
Fill the flowerpot with water. Plug the cord into an electrical outlet.
