How to Clean Salt Stains Off Leather Boots

Leather boots are a fashion necessity during the winter for many people. Unfortunately, if you live in a climate with snow your leather boots will take a beating from the harsh weather and the salt that goes with it. To keep your boots in good condition, learn how to clean salt stains off leather boots. This will help you protect your investment and ensure your leather boots look good and last a long time.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White vinegar
  • Water
  • Small bowl
  • 2 clean cloths
  • Toothbrush
  • Sealant spray
  1. Step 1

    Use the dry toothbrush to gently work at the salt stains to loosen and remove as much of the stain as possible.

  2. Step 2

    Combine 1 tbsp. of water and 3 tbsp. of white vinegar in a small bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Place a clean cloth in the bowl of water/vinegar solution. Wring out the cloth completely and carefully dab at the salt stains. Do not completely saturate the leather. Work at the salt stains until they are gone.

  4. Step 4

    Saturate the other clean cloth with plain warm water and dab at the stained area of the boots after working in the water/vinegar solution.

  5. Step 5

    Allow the leather boots to dry completely.

  6. Step 6

    Spray the leather boots with a sealant spray after they are clean and dry to protect from future salt stains and damage.
