Step 1
Use the link in Resources to go to the main Google email page. Click on the "Sign up for Gmail" link. A new accounts page opens.

Insert your first and last name in the boxes provided. Decide what log-in account name you want to create.

Type this name in the appropriate text box. Click "Check Availability." If the name you want to use is not available, keep changing it until you find one that is.

Create a password of at least eight characters. Type it in the both password text boxes.

Decide if you want to have your computer remember your information and to enable "Web History." Uncheck these, if you do not desire to do this.

Use the drop-down arrow to select a security question. Type the answer to the question in the box below.

Type a "Secondary Email" address in the space provided. Do this if you want to be able to verify your account in the case of lost password or other problems.

Choose your location from the drop-down list. The default selection is "United States." Leave it alone or you can select other countries from the list.

Complete the "Word Verification" through typing the characters shown in the space. Click on the icon next to the box to hear the characters.

Read the "Terms of Service" shown. You can also read about the Program Policy and Privacy Policy by clicking on the links provided.

Review information you have inserted. Make any desired alterations to it. Click on the "I accept. Create my account" button on the button. You will be taken to your newly created Google email (Gmail) account.
