How to Get Rid of Dry Skin on Cats
When a cat's skin replacement cycle speeds up you may notice white flakes on the coat or that the skin is peeling. They could be caused by parasites, a hormonal imbalance or a symptom of liver disease, and should be discussed with your vet. Cold weather, hot, dry weather, sunburn or a dietary imbalance can also cause cat dandruff, and this can easily treated.
Instructions
-
Brush out the Flakes
-
1
Wrap several layers of cheesecloth around a bristle grooming brush.
-
2
Slightly dampen the brush with water.
-
-
3
Brush the cat gently but firmly, allowing the cheesecloth to trap the dead skin flakes.
-
4
Remove the cheesecloth.
-
5
Rinse out the cheesecloth.
-
6
Repeat the above steps until the coat has been thoroughly brushed, to stimulate blood circulation to the skin.
-
7
Continue on a daily basis until most flakes have disappeared, and then brush at least several times a week to keep the dead skin from accumulating.
