How to Cook a Pot Roast in a Slow Cooker

Things You'll Need
- 2- to 4-lb. pot roast
- Can of cream of mushroom soup (10 3/4 oz.)
- Packet of onion soup mix
- Can of sliced mushrooms

Place your roast in a slow cooker, rounded portion up.

Add soup mix to your roast. Open the packet of onion soup mix and sprinkle evenly over the top of your roast.

Pour the can of cream of mushroom over the roast. If you have a large roast, you may need to add a second can of cream of mushroom to your slow cooker.

Open the can of mushrooms and drain the juice from the can. Evenly sprinkle the mushrooms over the top of the roast.

Place the lid on the slow cooker. Turn the slow cooker on to the high setting. Cook the roast on high for 2 hours.

Turn the setting to low and cook for 6 to 7 more hours. Your roast will be tender and savory when it is done cooking.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to cook your roast on high, cook it for 4 to 5 hours. Be sure to cut into the inner part of the roast to make sure the meat is fully cooked. Serve your roast with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. You can also use the gravy created by your roast as gravy for your mashed potatoes.
Do not thaw your meat on the counter. To prevent food poisoning, thaw your meat in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days.
