A homemade deer feeder can be extremely cost effective when compared to anything commercial. Some people enjoy looking at deer all year round, while others strategically position their deer feeders so that they will have easy hunting during deer season. You can make a homemade deer feeder out of PVC tubing.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 6-foot piece of 4-inch diameter PVC pipe
  • 1 standard white hardware store bucket
  • PVC cement
  • (2) 4-inch PVC covers
  • 4 feet of rope
  • Hacksaw
  • Tape Measure
  1. Step 1

Cut a feeding port into the PVC pipe. This will be a 2-by-2 inch square about an inch above the bottom of the pipe. You can cut this square out with the hacksaw.

  2. Step 2

Cap the bottom of the PVC pipe. Using your PVC glue on the end with the cut out, glue the cover on the bottom. Even with the cap on, you'll still have a 1-by-2 inch hole that will dispense the feed.

  3. Step 3

Glue the pipe to a side of the bucket. Make sure the feeder port is facing into the center, and position the pipe so that the hole is about 4 inches from the bottom of the bucket.

  4. Step 4

Install your feeder on a tree. Wherever you want your feeder, rope the tube to a tree in two places, and tie it up tight. Make sure it will not be easily dislodged. If it is not secure enough, then use an additional length of rope to tie it again.

  5. Step 5

Set up the feeder to attract deer. Fill up the tube with feed, and place the other cap on the top. You can refill the feeder as needed, but it will dispense more feed from the tube every time the feeder port is exposed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Since PVC is white, it can be painted any color you'd like, or just left as is.
  • Check the hunting regulations in your area if you plan to use your deer feeder to attract deer to shoot and possibly eat.
