This will teach people how to stop their horse from jumping from certain areas. In the end of this training your horse will know who is boss and will respect you.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Just saddle up
  1. Step 1

Walk your horse to the area where he spooks the most.

  2. Step 2

Your horse will start feeling like it wants to run or spook plant yourself firmly in the saddle.

  3. Step 3

If he starts spinning take control of your horse by bringing him back to same spot with an authoritive voice. This will take awhile for your horse to settle down.

  4. Step 4

As soon as he calms down a little keep him still and say goodboy/girl. Comforting a horse is the best way to calm them. Its worked for me plenty.

  5. Step 5

Keep doing this routine everyday or as much as possible to get them used to the area and know its not going to hurt them (some horses do this just to see what they can get away with).

Tips & Warnings
  • All expert horsemen will know that things like this will not work in one day. Do not bring treats when your doing this.
  • Usually when a horse spooks sometimes it will happen with a new horse they just want to see what they can get away with.
  • BE CAREFUL a horse that has not been working with much with this routine can buck, rear up, spin, or take off.
