How to Make A Money Tree Gift for a Shower
Money trees are a great idea for wedding and baby showers. Guests can tie money to the tree to help offset the cost of necessities not received as gifts at the shower. To make a money tree, you can take monetary donations from friends and family, fund the tree yourself or ask guests to tie bills to the tree as they enter the shower. Most supplies are available at your local arts and crafts store.

1
Purchase a tall, fake potted plant. Ensure the plant is above waist high so it's easy to add money to it without stooping or bending.
-
2
Cut colored yarn 2 to 3 inches long. You will need enough yarn to tie around each branch, providing enough to tie on the money. Choose colors that accentuate the theme of your shower. For example, greens and yellows are great for baby showers.

3
Tie one end of your yarn to the plant's branches, securing it with a knot or double knotted bow. Repeat this for each branch on the plant.
-
4
Attach a safety pin or paper clip to the end of each piece of yarn. Run the free end of your yarn through the top of the clip or pin and secure with a knot or double knotted bow.
-
5
Attach money to each piece of yarn by sliding the bills through the slit on the paper clips or poking a hole with safety pins through the bills to secure. If you do not want to use paper clips or safety pins, you can tie your bills with the free end of your yarn.
-
6
Place your money tree near the entrance. Ask guests to donate by attaching money to the tree if you haven't already taken up a donation.
