Have you ever wondered how to pick the best puppy out of a litter of puppies? These few simple steps apply to purebred, mixed breeds and designer breeds alike. Just keep in mind what you are personally looking for in a puppy and if looks matter more than personality, well, this isn't the ehow for you!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A litter of puppies
  1. Step 1

First off, you should go see the puppies in their home. You should also ask to see the mother and father of the puppies. Check out their personalities, temperaments, colors, etc. If you like the parents, the home/kennel is clean and runs smoothly then move on to the next step. NEVER purchase a puppy from somewhere you feel uncomfortable or think there may be something wrong.

  2. Step 2

Once you are in the same area as the puppies just wait. Sit or stand. Either one is fine. Let the puppies come to you. If you are wanting a more reserved puppy then look at the ones that are furthest away from you. If you are wanting the most outgoing puppy look at the ones that are closest to you. If you are wanting on in between look at the ones in the middle.

  3. Step 3

Have the owner take out all the other puppies but whatever ones were in your zone (furthest, closest or middle). Now, spend time with those puppies. Do any specific colors jump out at you? Are those ice blue eyes just too heart melting to pass up? Or is that puppy that keeps licking you going home with you?
