Some of the most common makeup mistakes are the following.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Using the wrong shade of concealer or foundation - So often women make the mistake of not correctly matching their skin tone to the concealer or foundation they are using. Doing this often makes you look gray, or just down right awful! Make sure you test out the shade in the store to see if it really is the closest to your skin shade. As you tan, or loss your tan you also want to make sure you change the shades you use, as many people do not.

Eye liner mishaps - When attempting to make your eyes look bigger or just going for the smoky eye effect, do not overdo your eye liner. When you do this especially with liquid liner it usually does not turn out very good. You want to use shadows for the best results. Use the eye liner and get it as close to your lashes as possible.

  2. Step 2

To much - Wearing to much makeup can make you look gray or clown like. To avoid this do not wear a heavy foundation with a bright color. Choose a sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer and blend, blend, blend! A little can go along way.

Emphasizing more then one feature - When you emphasize to many features it has the tendency to look over done and not flattering. Instead focus on one feature like the eye or the lips, but not both!

  3. Step 3

Overdoing it - For instance if you have blue eyes and you wear blue eye shadow, blue eye liner and blue mascara, that is way overdone! It is excessive and not really flattering, so choose only one of the above resist the temptation to over do it!

To much blush - If you have applied to much blush, gently roll a cotton ball over your check to help take off excess blush. In a circular motion blend in toward the apples of your cheeks so the color does not spread all over your face. If you still have on to much blush, then dust your cheeks with some translucent powder, (just a small amount) This will help tone down the blush. Next time make sure you save blush for last so you do not apply to much. Also choose powder blushes since they are easier to work with.
