Things You'll Need:
- Computer with Internet Access
- Time to spend researching
-
Step 1
Search for a webhost. Finding web hosts is the easy part. Search engines will guide you to thousands of web hosts. After you've found one that has the features you want at the price you want, it's time to narrow down.
-
Step 2
Consult the Terms of Service and hosting package details. Check the terms of service to see what type of support they offer and if they offer a refund if you have a bad experience. Thoroughly check the hosting package details for bandwidth, disk space, add-ons, support, uptime and make sure that they offer exactly what you need.
-
Step 3
Read support forums and FAQ's. See what types of problems that customers have and how they have been resolved. This will tell you what kind of treatment you will receive if you choose this host, as well as giving you answers to questions you may have.
-
Step 4
Check web host review sites. It's important to see what everyone else says about the company, not just what the company says about itself. In a search engine, type in "web hosting reviews" Look for the web host you are considering, and see what experts say. Some sites also have customer ratings. You'll be able to identify warning signs fairly quickly.
-
Step 5
Email with your questions. Most companies have a sales representative to answer any additional questions. This will give you a chance to test how quickly they respond and how well they communicate with their customers. Check for a live chat as well.
-
Step 6
Research the company's credibility. Is the company registered with the Better Business Bureau? How long has the company been in business? If you do your due diligence, you will be rewarded.
