Here are 9 words you should have stored in your memory bank: It's the economy, stupid and Stupid is as Stupid does. (Forest Gump)

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

It's not unusual for shoppers to get their money back on purchases that don't work or fit. But now, companies are tossing out refunds to customers for a new reason: They've lost their jobs. Have you checked out the relaxed deals on mortgages, car payments or a new sport coat lately that are among the deals to be had for customers who are unemployed or worried about losing jobs? Read on, folks, read on.

  2. Step 2

Biggest Deals: Car makers. Zero percent 48 month financing. One company says it you don't like the car or can't make the payments within a years time, due to job loss or disability, bring it back.
Drugstores: Walgreen gives free in-store clinic visits for the unemployed and uninsured for the rest of 2009.
Men's Clothing: Joseph A. Bank refunds the price of a suit if you lose your job plus you can keep the suit. What?

  3. Step 3

Jet Blue Airlines: is giving back full refunds for hotel reservations and plane tickets purchased during their $199 special ending April 9th.
So what's the motivation, here. Simple! Consumers have clamped down on spending and are saving $$$. Hence, more and more businesses are trying to entice the consumer to dust off that check book/credit card, and start buying!

  4. Step 4

Movies: You need to think twice about spending upwards of $12 bucks each for adult theater movie tickets. A family of four could easily spend $50 bucks if includes sodas, candy and a box of popcorn so huge if dropped on the floor might cover an entire small child. I go to Blockbuster and for $12 a month, can watch as many movies as I like. Sure, it's not the new "kids" movies, but you can wait a month until it hits the stores and save a ton of money you can use for groceries. Think about it.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're in the shopping mood this spring and summer, and can afford it, look around town or on the internet for deals you can't believe.
  • Even supermarkets have dropped prices - especially, if you pick up the generic store brand. Being a great cook myself, I tested this last month here in CA, and found instead of shelling out $375 bucks for my wife and I during February, (we eat real good) I went generic and saved $112 dollars. You can too.
