Things You'll Need:
- Computer, If you want to rewrite to the CD you will need a CDRW Burner Driver.
-
Step 1
Load your CD into your computer. Click on your start button and go to My Computer. From there click on the CD or D: drive to view the contents of the CD. Each song will be listed as an individual file. Here you can select individual files or delete the whole CD with a click of a button. Highlight the files you want to delete by clicking on them. Then right click to get your pop up menu and scroll down to delete, or select all then delete.
-
Step 2
You can reformat it this will wipe out everything and make it possible to write to the Cd's. The only time I have found this necessary is when I was recording over a purchased CD or a software CD. To do this click your start button go to My computer, then CD drive. Then click on file, and scroll down to format. It will give you seven options pick quick format to erase overwrite all information and make it recordable again.
-
Step 3
A lot of CD players are CDRW capable today, although this option won't work for copy righted CD's. You can do this with CD's you have made your self. Newer CD player's have a delete button. While the song is selected that you want to delete, click the delete button and that song is gone.

on 10/22/2009 A magnet can not harm a cd, DVD, or a burned CD or DVD. Factory CDs and DVDs have the data "pressed" into a non ferrous metal film that resides between two layers of plastic, while burned CDs and DVDs have a dye layer that is actually burned by the laser and mimics the pressed film layer of commercial disks. Something else must have happened to your rentals.
