Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wire Strippers
  • New Outlet
  • Screw Driver
  1. Step 1

    Turn power to room you are working in off at the breaker box.

  2. Step 2

    Unscrew your present outlet from the wall but do not remove it entirely by disconnecting or cutting the wiring.

  3. Step 3

    Use your wire strippers to cut a wire from your old outlet then strip the wire you removed and then reconnect it to your new outlet.

  4. Step 4

    Repeat the step above one wire at a time until you have moved all the wires from the old outlet into the same positions on your new outlet.

  5. Step 5

    Screw your outlet back into the wall.

  6. Step 6

    Turn power back on at the breaker box and test your new outlet.
