Do you need to get rid of excess belly fat before you go on vacation so you can look good in that new swimming suit? Unfortunately, as we age, fat naturally begins accumulating in our belly, instead of our hips, and weight becomes much more difficult to lose. How do you get rid of excess belly fat?

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Exercise
  • Low fat diet
  • Small meals
  • Water
  • Breakfast
  1. Step 1
    Do some gardening for exercise
     
    Do some gardening for exercise

    Exercise a little everyday if possible to help you lose belly fat and keep muscle tone. In order to stay in shape, and keep your muscles toned, you must exercise or everything begins to sag. You do not need to spend a lot of money buying a gym membership or home exercise equipment. Instead, walk, plant a small garden, take the stairs instead of the elevator, and park farther away instead of closer to the store.

    Drink Green Tea
     
    Drink Green Tea

    Drink plenty of water everyday and avoid soda and those high calorie specialty coffees and lattes that are loaded with calories. Instead, enjoy unsweetened green tea if you need some caffeine. Make green tea at home as sun tea and it only costs a few pennies a serving. Green tea boosts your immune system and aids in weight loss.

    Eat breakfast
     
    Eat breakfast

    Eat breakfast, even if you do not feel hungry. Skipping meals tells your body to retain fat because food is not available. If you are not a breakfast person, start small: eat a piece of fruit, a slice of bacon, or some yogurt.

  4. Step 4

    Avoid large meals and snacks that are high in fat and sodium. Remember all things in moderation. If you are dying for some ice cream, have some, but measure out an actual serving. Used baked potato chips, baked potato instead of French fries, and avoid the buttered rolls.

Tips & Warnings
  • Eat small healthy meals and snacks that are high in protein often throughout the day. Protein helps keep your stomach feeling full, longer.
  • Do not skip meals because that contributes to gorging and your body retaining fat.

on 11/26/2009 Excellent suggestions. One you sneakily slipped in there that can have a huge impact is "plant a small garden". I can run six miles & do a weight workout that will never make me hurt like an afternoon of gardening. It is the as-yet unrecognized extreme sport with major fitness potential.
