Step 1
First of all, decide how many pounds to want to lose.
One pound is about 3500 calories, so in order to lose a pound a week you must burn at least 500 calories a day. -
Step 2
Burning 500 a day might sound intimidating, but it's actually not that difficult.
First, look at the food you eat and see where you can cut of about 250 calories.
Here's a fun fact - you actually burn more calories than you consume when you eat celery! Weird, huh? -
Step 3
Next, if your version of DDR has workout mode, use it. Depending on the workout modes (1, 2, 3, etc.) you burn from 40 to 60 calories in 10 minutes. That means if you choose the hard dance routines that are intensive (and even if you miss a couple steps, don't worry) you can burn 500 calories in a 90 minute workout.

Step 4
Remember to keep your goal in sight - let's say you want to lose 15 pounds. That's about 525,000 calories. Sounds intimidating, but you'll be able to drop it in 15 weeks or less if you really work at it - this means dancing EVERYDAY.

Step 5
Your workout should start with the slower dances, less than 100 beats per minute. After 2 or 3 songs, move up to the faster dances, and then wind down a bit for your last dances.
Make sure to keep yourself hydrated as well, and trust me - you'll be sweating bullets within the first half hour.
