Start a Recession Proof Business

A recession proof business is one that will continue to make money even during tough times. Can you think of a few businesses that would survive a recession? A recession doesn't have to mean the end of the world. It is all in the way you think that will determine how you are affected by a recession. If you have lemons make some lemonade. Is the glass half full or half empty? Are you stuck on getting a JOB or are you willing to get out there an make that money? The businesses outlined below are all recession proof because the satisfy a need. Protect yourself and your family by starting a business that is recession proof today.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start your own cleaning company. A service that will be needed even during a recession is a cleaning service. Cater to businesses instead of individuals. An individual will cut cost like a cleaning service before a business would. A business needs to keep their offices clean for their employees and the customers.

  2. Step 2

Start your own Medical Transcription service: This is a field that will be around a long time because the human element can never be completely removed. There are special skills needed for this type of business that you must have to be successful in this field. If you are just starting in medical transcription then I would suggest getting more experience before taking on this type of business. However, if you have been in this field for over a year I would start by targeting a smaller physician's offices. Offering medical billing would also go hand and hand with this type of business.

  3. Step 3

Start your own Daycare service. If you have a way with kids and don't mind them around this may be a great service to offer. Childcare will also be in high demand because people have to work. Even if people are losing there jobs daycare will still be needed. If you are a mother that wants to stay home why not offer childcare in your home. Research the policies in your area and get started.

  4. Step 4

Start your own Window cleaning service. This can be an addition to your cleaning service but it can also be a stand alone business. Pass out as many business cards as possible. Focus on the businesses that have a storefront window. Don't forget the outside malls they are your best potential clients because they don't have the time to clean their own windows but want a good appearance for their customers. If you think they need to be cleaned then approach them. The more business cards you give out the greater your chances will be to get that first client. See resources below on how to order free business cards.

Tips & Warnings
  • Offer discounts or lower fees for your services to ensure you get and keep the client during this recession.
