Instructions

Make your own invitations for a Mother's Day Tea by having children color and cut out the tea pot and cup.

Print off a tea pot and cup coloring sheet (see resources for link). You will need one copy per child.

Ask all members of the group to color the tea pot and cup just as mom would like. After coloring, have children cut out the two, to make their own invitations.

When you make your own invitations, glue the tea cup on the front of the card.

Use a piece of pink construction paper. Fold in half, short ways. Glue the tea cup on front and save the pot for the inside. Make your own invitations by having children write "You're Invited" above the cup on the front.

Write a jingle. After you finish the front, open the card. On the left hand side, write a cute little invitation poem or jingle, such as:

      Warm and sweet
      Just like mom
Our tea wouldn't be the same
      Unless you come!

Fill in the date, time, and place of the Mother's Day Tea. Make sure you send a slip asking for replies, because you don't want that one child to not have someone there to celebrate with.

To make your own invitations for the Mother's Day Tea, add a jingle and glue the tea pot inside.

Glue the tea pot in. After writing in the jingle and details, now comes the fun part to make your own invitations.

Have students glue the tea pot on the right hand side of the card (inside.) Do not glue the top part of the tea pot, where the top is located. Allow to dry.

Make your own invitations to a Mother's Day Tea, complete with tea bag.

Cut the tea pot top off. Use one tea bag and tape or glue. Tape the tea bag tag just above the tea pot, where the top is supposed to be.

Glue or tape the top back on and allow to dry. There is now a tea bag dangling on the pot for Mom to make herself a cup before the party.
