How to Effectively Move/copy Files/folders From Source to Target

This is the most easiest and effective way of moving/copying the files/folders from Source to Target. You can also create shortcuts using this method.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Files or Folders you need to move or copy
  • Location of the source
  • Location of the target
  • Action to perform
  1. Step 1

    Open the source folder and target folders in two different windows

  2. Step 2

    Select all the files and folders you want to copy or move. You can use shortcut key CTRL + A to select all the files and folders. Alternatively, if the number of files and folders you want to exclude are less, just select the files and folders you want to exclude and then from the menu edit, select Invert Selection option so that all the files and folders you want to copy/move are selected.

  3. Step 3

    Once you are done with the selection process, right click on the selected files and drag them to the target folder.

  4. Step 4

    You will get a context menu with options like Copy, Move, Create Shortcut and Cancel. Choose the appropriate action you desire to copy/move files or/and folders.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also create shortcuts using this method
  • Make sure to try this on dummy files and folders before you actually want to use so that you can minimize the risk of loosing your valuable data.
