How to Use Traffic Exchanges To Increase Traffic

Traffic exchanges provide an opportunity to put your website in front of thousands of people in exchange for viewing their websites. There is a trick to making traffic exchanges work well for you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Be sure to select traffic exchanges that have tons of members. Most offer a free membership, so you can join and surf free. When you do, pay attention to how many times the same website show up. If you are viewing the same website over and over, then the traffic exchange is new, and gaining the kind of exposure that you need won't happen.

However, it doesn't take long for traffic exchanges to gain thousands of members. It's usually just a matter of weeks. So, consider buying credits while they are cheap, but don't activate your credits until the website gains more members.

  2. Step 2

If you don't want to spend any money, then surf in exchange for showing your website to others. This method is free. However, use a splash page to target these prospects. A splash page is a page made especially to target a certain demographic. It then links into your real front page. (Look for my article on splash pages.) The goal is to catch your viewers attention within a few seconds and get them to subscribe to your newsletter. Offer something irresistible and make them sign up for your newsletter before they download it. Once you have them in your newsletter, you can continue to market your primary products or services.

  3. Step 3

If you don't mind spending a little money and don't want to spend time surfing you can either upgrade membership or buy additional credits. You won't have to surf other sites to use your credits. It's less expensive to buy a few credits on several traffic exchanges and then track which ones bring in the best results.

  4. Step 4

Do not use traffic exchanges if you have Google Adsense on the page that you are having viewed in the traffic exchange. Google Adsense does not allow this. However, you can use a splash page in the traffic exchange devoid of Google Adsense and when they click further into your site, then you can use Google Adsense.
