How to Get Skype for iPhone

Skype, the popular voice over Internet protocol application, makes an iPhone app that enables mobile users to access the service when on the go. Skype users can call, video call or instant message other Skype users at no cost and they can contact non-Skype users anywhere in the world for a low fee. The service works wherever the iPhone has a 3G or Wi-Fi signal.

Instructions

      Turn on the iPhone and tap the "App Store" icon on the home screen.

      Type "Skype" in the search box at the top of the screen and click the "Search" button. Tape the "Skype" icon that appears in the search results to read about the app.

      Tap the "Free" button to download the app. Enter your Apple ID when prompted to initiate the download.

      Tap the "Skype" icon on the iPhone home screen. Log in using your Skype account information or follow the prompts to attain a new account. Now you are ready to place your first Skype call, video call or chat.

Tips & Warnings

  • iPod Touch users who want to download Skype for iPhone will need earphones with an embedded microphone to talk to their callers. They can still use Skype's chatting features without the mic, if they've downloaded Skype for iPhone.
