Instructions

    • 1

Mix the nonfat yogurt, cocoa powder, salt, vanilla, and half of the sugar in a food processor on low until the sugar dissolves. Taste the mixture. Continue adding the rest of the sugar until the mixture has reached the desired sweetness. Scrape down the sides of the bowl periodically to ensure that all of the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

    • 2

Remove the bowl from the food processor and place the mixture into the refrigerator. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap, preventing any air from reaching the chocolate mixture. If the mixture is exposed to air for a prolonged period of time it will develop a skin on top. Refrigerate the mixture for a minimum of four hours. For best results refrigerate the mixture for 24 to 48 hours. If the bowl of your food processor does not separate from the machine, transfer the mixture to a large bowl for refrigeration.

    • 3

Remove the mixture from the refrigerator and place it into your ice cream maker. Each ice cream maker is different, so follow the specific directions for your machine. After the chocolate low fat frozen yogurt is completely frozen, transfer the yogurt to a plastic container. Do not keep this yogurt for more than two weeks for maximum freshness and taste.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add chocolate chips or nuts to your frozen yogurt for added flavor and crunch.

  • If you are monitoring your sugar intake, you can substitute artificial sweetener for sugar.
