make a Butterfly Paper Chain
make a Butterfly Paper Chain

This is a fun simple quick craft that young and old will enjoy. It is perfect to stand up on a mantel or hang on a door. The other great thing about this craft is that it doesn't require you to have a lot of craft supplies on hand!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Begin by gathering all the materials you need for this craft. Take a piece of construction paper and fold it in half the long way.
Next, cut the paper along the fold. Use one piece and save the other piece to make another chain.

  2. Step 2

Fold the paper in half, then in half again. Unfold the paper and you will have four equal sections. Fold the paper along the folds but this time like an accordion.

  3. Step 3

Draw a butterfly on the top square. Use the picture provided as your guide to draw the butterfly. Cut out the triangles along the folds that I colored black for you.

  4. Step 4

Unfold the four sections of paper to reveal the butterfly shapes. Have children color each butterfly. Either hang or place on a table or mantel to display their wonderful collection of butterflies!

Tips & Warnings
  • Instead of markers to color the butterflies use crayons, glitter, sequins, or whatever you have on hand!
