Things You'll Need:
- valid/reasonable reason why you need to find your pet a new home.
-
Step 1
NEVER ever abandon your pet. Someone out there will welcome your pet and take good care of them.
-
Step 2
Take a photo of your pet. Find out your pet's vital information like breed, approximate age, sex and health records or spay/neuter information, if any.
-
Step 3
Ask your friends and relatives whom you think would take care and love your pets if they are interested in welcoming a new family member.
-
Step 4
Do not post an ad for your pet as "free to good home". You want somebody to love and care about your pet not someone who wouldn't care if your pet dies. The reason why they wouldn't care? Because the pet did not cost anything.
-
Step 5
Visit your local animal shelter or humane society to surrender your pet. There is a fee to surrender a pet. The fee includes shelter, meals, medical and behavior assessment, toys and finding a good loving home for your pet.
-
Step 6
Give your pet's toys, blankets and his/her other favorite things to the new owner or animal shelter when you surrender your pet. It's hard for your pet to be away from you as it is, don't make it harder for him/her to be away from his/her toys, blanket and other favorite things.
