Do you love pizza but not the fat. Well, this recipe will explain how to make a delicious pizza with less fat. It's quick, easy and great tasting. Enjoy!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pillsbury pizza dough
  • Pizza sauce (available at any grocery store)
  • low-fat or fat free mozzarella
  • Italian seasoning
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Fresh Basil (optional)
  • Can of mushrooms (optional)
  • Low fat turkey pepperoni (optional)
  • Pam spray
  • Cookie sheet
  • Pizza cutter (optional will do)
  • Rolling pin (optional)
  • Pizza stone (optional)
  • Oven
  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees (important that oven is pre heated to cook dough correctly)

  2. Step 2

Spray cookie sheet with Pam (or non fat) cooking spray.

  3. Step 3

Unroll pizza dough and place on cookie sheet. Spread pizza dough to fit standard cookie sheet. Use fingers to spread out. Then use rolling pin to spread and even out. Do not flatten too far where you can see through to cookie sheet.

  4. Step 4

Cut excess pizza dough. Use excess to fill any holes or thin spots that may have occurred. Be sure to pinch edges up so they are thicker to make out side of pizza crust.

  5. Step 5

Place dough in the oven and cook approximately 8-10 minutes. Dough should be hardened and no longer sticky (not brown yet).

  6. Step 6

Carefully slide pizza dough off cookie sheet and onto your pizza stone or directly on oven rack. Use a spatula to help so you do not tear the dough.

  7. Step 7

    Cook and additional 2 minutes.

  8. Step 8

Take dough out of oven. Spoon on pizza sauce (not plain tomato sauce). Do not put too much sauce on dough. You should use a large spoon in circular motions. The sauce should lightly coat the dough.

  9. Step 9

Season sauce with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning and fresh basil. This should be to your tastes. You can also add salt and pepper.

  10. Step 10

Spread shredded mozzarella over the top of the sauce covering the sauce but not the outside crust.

  11. Step 11

Add mushrooms, pepperoni or any other topping on top of the mozzarella. Do not overload.

  12. Step 12

Carefully put the prepared pizza back into the oven.

  13. Step 13

Cook until the cheese is fully melted.

  14. Step 14

Remove from oven and let cool for 2 minutes. I usually take the pizza out on the pizza stone and slide off onto cooling racks. You can leave it on the stone to cool or take off the rack with a pizza spade or large spatula sliding it off to a cutting board.

  15. Step 15

Cut the pizza into slices and enjoy. Pizza without the guilt.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not over-cook at any stage.
  • Pizza stones cook the dough the best for perfect crust
  • Be careful not to burn yourself
  • Do not cook the dough to the point of browning before removing to add toppings
  • Always let pizza cool before attempting to cut. This let's it set right and avoids burning your mouth.
