I can give you tips on using Logic Pro 8 with techniques that I have found useful. However, don't think that these tips will be accompanied by the basics of Logic Pro 8. These tips are for advanced digital musicians and are not for the Average Joe. Instead, you should come back after you have been educated from other websites. Then you can learn some of these advanced secrets to getting the most out of Logic Pro 8.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Logic Pro 8
  • Computer
  • Basic knowledge of Logic
  1. Step 1

Adaptive limiters are used by commercials to increase the audio volume. Have you ever noticed that while you're watching TV commercials they appear louder than the TV program? This is because many TV commercials use things called "adaptive limiters". You can use a soft, average or dense limiter in logic's built-in adaptive limiters. The best limiter is probably the soft limiter, which softens every loud instrument and boosts ever soft instrument for a more balanced song. You should always use adaptive limiters in your music, because it will increase the volume and get your music heard!

  2. Step 2

Always offset your instruments from center. Logic gives you the chance to move some instruments to the left or to the right. Using this technique, you should always have everything offset or maybe just use the drums in the center.

  3. Step 3

Whenever you do vocals, use something called pitch correction. Pitch correction allows you to sing off key, and then it corrects you by putting your voice back in key digitally and without much distortion. It is good for singers that are actually out of tune. I hear rappers use this a lot in modern hip-hop. Little Wayne uses pitch correction constantly. You can hear his voice sounds almost digital when he changes pitch because he is greatly off key and the computer is correcting for him. In conclusion, pitch correction is almost necessary nowadays, unless you have a very talented vocalist.

  4. Step 4

There is a orange button to the left called the Low Latency Button. Always turn this one when recording vocals, keyboards or anything for that matter! Turn it on during playbacks. This make it so there is NO lag for your computer by temporarily turning off large programs like pitch correction.

  5. Step 5

I strongly suggest that you buy an external hard drive (dedicated music server) and connected it to your computer. Copy Logic 8 into the hard drive and then open logic 8 from the external hard drive. Make the external hard drive do all the work while your computer simply is used as a monitor screen. The good thing about this is you can bump up all the buffer speeds to the maximum and have no lag at all or errors. Make sure you put nothing on the dedicated server except your saved music files and Logic 8 Pro.
