I made my first pot of chilli this weekend and it was so good that I wanted to share it with everyone. Chilli is a great meal because it will reheat well. You can save money this week on eating out for dinner and lunch. Its inexpensive and you could actually go to bed while it cooks. Try it this week, you'll be happy!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Crockpot
  • 2 cans dark red kidney Beans (drained)
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomatoes sauce
  • 2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 large green pepper
  • 1 large white onion
  • 1 package chilli seasoning (any brand)
  • Cajun seasoning (any brand and as much as you can stand)
  • hot sauce (any brand and as much as you can stand)
  1. Step 1

Place your ground turkey in a large saucepan and season with salt and pepper. Brown in a small amount of oil. No specific type of oil, everybody has a favorite.

  2. Step 2

Wash then cut up your onion and green peppers. While your near the sink drain your canned beans.

  3. Step 3

Get out your crockpot. It's not just for Grandma anymore. Crockpots are great. Mix your drained beans, diced tomatoes, tomatoe sauce, green peppers, onions, hotsauce and seasonings in the crockpot well. Stir until it looks blended well and you can't see your seasonings anymore. Next fold in your browned ground turkey after draining off all the grease of course.

  4. Step 4

Put your lid on and let it sweat. Turn your crockpot on low and go to bed. In about 8-10 hours you will be happy. Don' worry about it burning, the juice from the tomatoes and the sauce is enough.

Tips & Warnings
  • Enjoy with shredded cheese or sour cream on top.
  • Don't for get your favorit cracker, I like oyster crackers.
  • Make sure you are using a large crockpot or it may boil over. I made this mistake, luckily I have two crockpots. I was able to split in in half to avoid another mess.
