Step 1
Sewing boxes are important if you plan on sewing. You have all of your supplies as you need them. Makes it alot easier. Well to start with you have to have a sewing box. Lots of seperate compartments. You can organize it any way you like.

You will need, Thread-all different colors, Bobbins-all colors, Straight pins, Pin cushion, Sharp scissors, Tape measure, Ruler-clear, Seam ripper, Seam or hem gauge, Marking pen-pencil-or chalk,

Step 3
Hand sewing needles-all sizes, Machine needles-all sizes, Thimble, Button assortment, Snaps, Crocheting needles-all sizes, Knitting needles-all sizes, Tracing paper, Tracing wheel. Sewing is fun but you need the right supplies.

Step 4
There are many different sizes of needles for different kinds of fabric. You will learn as you go. Thread is the same. All strengths for different fabrics. There is even a machine needle just for sewing blue jean material. Also blue jean thread. It's awsome.

on 5/2/2009 I tend to build mine as I do different projects, but I find it necessary to at least have white, black and blue thread on hand. I also need needles with larger eyes to see more easily with threading. You have provided good tips for having sewing supplies on hand!
