As a stay at home mom, I know how challenging it can be to transition from working wife to a homemaker. It took a while for me to break out of my shell and look for opportunities, but now that I have, I am a much happier mommy!

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Confidence
  • A Computer
  • A little bit of time
  • Patience
  1. Step 1

As frightening as it may seem, it is important to get out into the world as a stay at home mom. This is one thing that I was unaware of at first. Being a military wife as well did not help. The best thing I ever did was look for Mommy and Me groups online. While there are other ways to find groups, I looked on the site Meetup.com. This was extremely helpful because I was able to meet some women online before I met them in person.

  2. Step 2

If you do join a group, be sure to go to the events. You will never get out and about if you refuse to go to any groups. I am very shy by nature and was terrified, but I had to force myself. Not only is going to these groups going to help your child learn to interact with other kids, it also gives you a social outlet, in which you can meet friends and share stories.

  3. Step 3

When you and your child are simply staying home (which is definitly okay too, just as long as it is not everyday) be sure you are creative. Think of activities for the two of you to do together. Play a game, take a walk, finger paint on paper all over the kitchen floor, build forts, anything that bonds the two of you. The last thing you want to do as a stay at home mom is spend all day staring at the television while your child runs around you with no interaction. Their childhood passes much too quickly for that.

  4. Step 4

My last tip is to enjoy every moment you have with your child. This may not sounds so easy when your two year old is running through the house throwing a fit, but believe me, you have to appreciate it while you can. I cannot even believe that my son is already two. It seems just yesterday that he was a tiny thing in my belly kicking me. Make sure you spend time with your kids, talking to them and letting them interact with you. That is the best thing for them! Cherish every moment you have and good luck!!!

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not be afraid to meet new people!
  • Be creative when you and your child are spending time together, there are tons of great ideas online!
  • Be sure to check out the Mom's group before you join, and ask as many questions as possible. You never know who is out there, and you want to keep your children safe.
