Things You'll Need:
- Large bowl or basin
- Warm water
- Towel
-
Step 1
First of all you need to prepare your materials. Get the bowl or basin(a sink will work just as effectively.) The water should be between 90-105 degrees farenheit. Being cold blooded snakes don't like cold water.
-
Step 2
Next when you have the water nice and warm simply put the snake into it. Take care to be gentle because some snakes may be alarmed when put into a new element. If they have never bathed before I'd suggest moving fairly slowly.
-
Step 3
When your snake is partly submerged in the water stroke them gently to lift off any sticking dirt or left over skin.
-
Step 4
If you are bathing your snake to help with the shedding process keep them in the water for about 10 minutes while stroking them. Take care to be gentle as shedding skin may still be attached.
-
Step 5
Finally simply take your snake out of the water and towel dry them. Personally I wrap her in a towel and hold her to promote body heat. They do not heat themselves and will probably be cold after getting wet. If you don't want to manually warm your snake then make sure to put them back into their tank to warm themselves on their heating pad.

on 4/8/2009 WOW! I never knew that snake could be bathed. You are right about not having to clean hair off of things, like when you have a cat or dog. Great article!
