Things You'll Need:
- One pound sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
- Pinch of flour
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce, plus 1 teaspoon (reserve)
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil, plus a few drops (reserve)
- 1/3 teaspoon Dried chili pepper flakes (optional)
- 1-1/2 cups long-grain rice
- 1 bunch chopped green onions, green parts only, white stems removed
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 4 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1/2 cup green peas, fresh or frozen
- Salt and pepper to taste
-
Step 1
In a large bowl, combine 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, red chili flakes and a pinch of flour; mix well, than add the beef sirloin; toss.
-
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt if desired. Stir in the rice. Cook until just done, about 10-15 minutes. Drain the rice then return it to the pot. Set aside.
-
Step 3
Meanwhile, add 2 tablespoons cooking oil in wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat. When oil is smoking, put the beef mixture in the pan and stir-fry it until browned. About 1 minute. Add the green peas. Cook for another 1 minute. Remove from heat.
-
Step 4
Put the green onions and one teaspoon soy sauce in the pan, cook until the "almost" done (begins to soften), about 30 seconds. Remove from from heat.
-
Step 5
Reduce heat to medium-low. Drizzle some drops of sesame oil in the frying pan. Add the beaten egg to the pan, scramble and cook until done, about 1 seconds. Remove from the pan.
-
Step 6
Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons cooking oil in the pan over medium-high heat. Return the rice, beef, peas, green onion and egg to the frying pan. Stir-fry for 2 minutes than plate. Drizzle sesame oil over the top and serve. Add salt and pepper, if desired.
