The Google sandbox is a filter that the Google Search Team created a few years ago to fight spam in the search engine results page listings. Many wonder if the sandbox actually exists while other web master know it exists and only want to know one thing, how to get out of it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • internet connection
  1. Step 1

There are several reasons why a site would be in Google's sand box. One being that the site is a new site, the other being that you have done major changes to your site. But if you want to know for sure if your site has been sand boxed then here are the steps to find out. Step one is to determine if your site is sand boxed. The answer is yes to any of these apply to you.

    * Your site is less than two years old or you have made major changes to your website.
    * If you search for the exact text of your sites title tag and it does not show up in results.
    * Your site had some good results rankings but then dropped off in its positions rapidly.
    * Your site has good rankings in Yahoo, MSN Live and other search engines but mot Google.

  2. Step 2

Getting out of the sand box is your next step, and this may disappoint a few here but the only way out is to wait it out. It takes about 6 to 8 months for a new website to begin gaining Google trust. Remember the whole reason for this filter is to weed out spam sites, so be sure not to engage in website spamming of any kind. During this time you should try to get links from other well established websites, at least two years old or older. Google sees this as those site giving your site a vote. so take this time to build quality links from sites in your category only.

  3. Step 3

If your site is not a new site, but you have made some major changes it may only take a month or two for Google to reassign your results rankings, and you may find your rankings are back to normal, or maybe even better. The key is to be patient and not to make other major changes until at least a month to see what happens with your rankings.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't panic and make a lot of changes to your site, give it time after you make changes
