Mother's Day is a great day for some people and sad for others. Here are some ideas to celebrate Mother's Day without a mother whether it is due to death, adoption, etc.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Someone who has been like a mother to you.
  • A close friend or close friend or relative to your mother or your grandmother, foster mother or adopted mother.
  1. Step 1

Mother's Day is to celebrate and honor mothers. Everyone may not be a mother, but there is one thing for sure, everyone has or had a mother. If your mother is deceased, spend the day with your father, siblings or close friends of your mothers or your grandparents. Go through old photos to honor and remember her.

  2. Step 2

If you are adopted, spend time with your adopted mother and be thankful that God has put her in your life to be your mother - though not biologically, in every other way. Celebrate her for being your mother.

  3. Step 3

If you were or are a foster child, ask God to help you to be the type of mother you would want. Spend time with a foster parent or friend who has been like a mother to you - someone who has loved you and helped you.

  4. Step 4

If none of these work for you, go to the movies, go hiking or spend the afternoon with a friend taking your mind off of the occasion.

Tips & Warnings
  • Everyone has a mother. Celebrate your life because your mother was instrumental in giving it to you.
  • If Mother's Day is a painful day for you, plan something far in advance to keep you busy and occupied that day so you won't be sad or depressed.
